Miracle Eve and Lionel Video

Miracle Eve is still sweet, small, special, and spoiled.
She is 6 months old now.

She looks bigger than she really is some photos.

Until she is stands next to her friend Lionel.

Miracle Eve and Lionel will always be friends, I believe.

You can tell the grass is still very dry. We still haven't had a rain in weeks here. At least it is not in the 100's everyday now.
I know the rain will be soon.

Have a great day!

Peaceful Walk Sunday

Would you like to walk with us?

Across the rock bridge.

To the hill above the old mill pond where Jack, Betsy, and the calves are grazing.

To the duck pond and watch the ducks swim and dive.

Sit a spell and listen closely as Little Annie whispers her secrets.

The goats follow closely and stop here and there for a fresh snack.

Stop and watch as the guineas look for insects in the top pasture and listen as they cackle their loud songs.

Wait as Annie and her boys stop for a quick rest.

Back at the quail pen to gather the eggs.

A quick look inside the brooder at the biddies that hatched this weekend.

BoDog poses after the walk with his veil of webs.

We are so glad you join us for a peaceful walk around the farm.

Have a great day!

The Girls Review the New Chicken Nest Box

A review of FarmMan's original fold down wire roost Chicken Nest Box.

The lucky girls to review it are the Light Brahma Hens.

Here is their review:
I like the way I can wrap my toes around this wire. A girl can wait patiently and comfortably for her favorite nest hole to become available.

It looks like enough room for two of us big gals in there.

You don't mind if I just wait right here until you are through in there, do you?

I like the plastic door guards. A girl does like to be safe!

I can't get over how well this nest box is made inside and out!

Yes, I can see from over here that I like it.
Big Daddy said the removable bottoms look good from down there!

I give it a big chicken thumb's up!

It is just the perfect place to lay my eggs in!

We can't wait until we are old enough to try out FarmMan's Chicken Nest Boxes too!

If you want your girls to be happy like my girls are, they need one of FarmMan's original Chicken Nest Boxes!

Squash Patties

This is a quick and easy recipe I came up with when my sons were young.
They weren't crazy about squash and I always had plenty of yellow squash growing in the garden.
I decided to experiment around with different way of preparing the yellow squash and came up with this recipe for Squash Patties.

All you need is squash, stuffing mix. I like the cornbread version mix better but any flavor of Stove Top or store brand stuffing mix will be fine.
1 egg.
Onion is optional.

I used 4 small yellow squash and cut them up, peeling and all. I like about 1/4 cup of cut up onion in with the squash. Add enough water to cover the squash. No salt. The stuffing mix will have enough spices.

Boil about 15-20 minutes . Drain the water out.
I use my potato masher and mash the cooked squash good.
Let the squash cool a few minutes.
You can add a little butter if you like.
Add the egg and stuffing mix.
I add about 1/4 cup more chopped onion.

Shape into patties.
Add a little vegetable oil in the skillet and brown each side of the patties.

The stuffing mix with all it's spices and squash go really well together.
You can use the squash patties either as a bread or side dish.

It makes around 12-14 patties.
They also freeze well.

My family always enjoyed squash patties. I hope yours do too!
Do you have a favorite squash recipe?

Have a great day!
